I created this page in 2007 in response to confusion due to the widespread misrepresentation of research on "outcomes of divorce". The research is very clear that batterers' behavior is harmful to children. In cases where there is violence or abuse of the mother or the children, ongoing contact with an abuser is associated with multiple negative outcomes for children, including homicide and familicide.
